The Hudson Restaurant
On a sunny Monday, May 19, 2016, we stopped for lunch at the Hudson Restaurant at Hillside in Sedona, Arizona. We had just returned from a fun morning hike to Devil's Bridge (no doubt looking a bit grungy from the hike, but no one turned us away!). The Hudson, which opened in 2015, used to be Shugrues Restaurant and is still owned by Mark and Lisa Shugrue.
We really enjoyed our lunch and include a few photos from the menu items we selected that day. First off, the calamari appetizer was great. I had the open-faced turkey sandwich and a good craft beer. It was a good combo. The outside deck has amazing views and we would have been out there except for the fact we had just gone hiking and had been in too much sun already. So we sat inside, relaxed and enjoyed our meal. The only thing I'd say that could be improved is the choice of art and interior decor; it would be nice if it better reflected the Sedona experience, or at least was more attractive to visitors. There is (in my opinion) mismatched abstract art on the walls. It doesn't really enhance the ambience, which denotes a somewhat austere, non-festive feeling. Fortunately, the food is great and with the outdoor deck's 180 degree, sweeping views of the red rocks, they end up with the best art of all!
