Sedona, AZ: The Sedona Fire District and 9/11 Memorial Committee is pleased to announce it has now raised the full amount needed to build the "We Shall Never Forget" 9/11 Memorial in Sedona, Arizona, fulfilling a vision that began well over a year ago.  Following a series of fundraisers over the past year, the most recent fundraiser, "A Night To Remember," was hosted by Vino de Sedona on June 9, 2016.

Beginning at 4 pm, attendees were treated to a series of fine red or white wines, live music, and a silent auction offering art, sculpture, pottery, dining, tours and travel packages. A sizeable crowd attended, and there were many familiar faces (Sedona locals) on hand to support a very worthy cause.

Event organizer Dave Soto commented, "We were hoping to raise enough money at this event to completely fund the construction of the memorial. The turnout for the event was more than expected, and due to the amount of funds raised at the event as well as other recent donations, we now have the necessary funds required to cover all of the construction costs."

One of the last remaining sections of a steel girder from the fallen New York World Trade Center that will be part of the memorial was on display at the fundraiser. The 3,000 lb steel section from the 20th floor of one of the Twin Towers will be the centerpiece of the Memorial Plaza. Construction began about two weeks ago, and the dedication of the memorial is planned for September 11, 2016.  www.sedonafd911memorial.org
