Leo Feeney Fine Jewelry Showcased at Turquoise Tortoise Gallery in Sedona
Sedona, AZ: Turquoise Tortoise Gallery in Sedona, Arizona opens “Synthesis: Leo Feeney Fine Jewelry” on 1st Friday, June 3, from 5-8 pm. The highly regarded jeweler will attend the opening to meet visitors and answer questions about his unique stone combinations and designs.
What makes the Native American influenced jewelry designs by Leo Feeney stand apart is his frequent mixture of opaque, semi-precious and precious stones to create what has become a signature style. While turquoise, both blue and green, frequently figures in his intricate cluster designs set in sterling silver, a Leo Feeney piece may be composed of gaspeite, spiny oyster, red coral and/or peridot, garnet, amethyst, citrine, topaz, or any number of other stones.
The confidence and skill to create such singular necklaces, cuffs, pendants, earrings and more comes from the experience that over thirty-five years as a jeweler brings.
“There is such variation in individual stones that when you get them laid out, certain stones are just drawn together,” Leo Feeney notes. Working from the center out, Feeney determines the right blend of stones and the size of each new design before he can begin his silver work. Completed designs that are already popular can always be special ordered with each new combination of stones creating a wholly original work of art. Every Leo Feeney piece is touched with the smallest of fine details.
“Synthesis: Leo Feeney Fine Jewelry” at Turquoise Tortoise Gallery runs through June 12.
