Turquoise Tortoise Gallery Features Wearable Art for Men in Sedona Arizona

Wearable Art For Men Showing At Turquoise Tortise In Sedona ArizonaSedona, AZ: Turquoise Tortoise Gallery features “Bolos, Belts & Buckles” showcasing wearable art for men by Native American and Southwest artists. While there is still plenty for the ladies to enjoy – including many of these pieces – men can stop by and savor a great variety of the highest quality stones and sterling silver crafted into jewelry with a masculine edge. The February 5, “1st Friday Gallery Tour” reception is from 5 to 8 p.m.

Southwest style gives great latitude to men to unabashedly wear pieces with long-held traditions behind them. A chunky turquoise ring or distinctive watchband is a great beginning. A belt buckle that can go from jeans to slacks is another easy option and there’s great variety to choose from: Stamp work on silver can be a subtle counterpoint to buckles elaborately and meticulously crafted with all-natural turquoise, lapis, coral and other remarkable stones.

An alternative to the look of a belt buckle is a “ranger set:” a buckle, belt tip and two guides that fit onto a belt. Stamp work and inset stones make each set unique. And for the die-hard enthusiast a Bolo tie lets everyone know your heart lives in the West. Several of the finest Native American silversmiths and lapidary artists in the area will have work included in the show as traditions of meticulous skill passed down through generations are represented. Most pieces at the gallery are by Navajo jewelers such as David and Alice Lister and Supersmith, a collective of top-notch Navajo jewelers.

Refreshments will be served and all are welcome to the gallery’s reception. The reception is a Sedona Gallery Association “1st Friday Gallery Tour” event. The gallery is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For further information visit Turquoise Tortoise Gallery at Sedona’s Hozho Center, or call 928-282-2262, email mail@turqtortsedona.com, or visit: www.turqtortsedona.com.
