Sedona AZ: The Kokopelli Suites is pleased to announce that Asian designer, VerMayo, has agreed to release a limited number of handbags from his line available for sale at the Sedona-based hotel. An exhibition will be held December 11-20, in the Kokopelli Suites lobby.
This event is open to both visitors and guests, but guests of the Kokopelli Suites will have the opportunity win a free handbag! Two times during the 10-day period, one guest will have a picture of a handbag hidden under their pillow signifying they are the lucky winner of a VerMayo bag. What do you need to do to be eligible for the contest? Simply stay at the Kokopelli Suites between December 11 and 20!
Mickey Mayo, the mastermind behind VerMayo, was born and raised in Delhi, India, and came from a background of creating and designing tools and running factories. After encouragement from his wife and the insight from his astrological signs, he was suggested to do enter into fashion design. Together with partner, Rajeev Verma, VerMayo was born.
Verma handles the company’s logistics leaving Mayo to focus his creative energies on designing and creating. Now a full-fledged handbag empire, VerMayo handbags are supplied throughout India in top stores such as Stellatoes, Stush, Bags N’ More, AG’s, Vijay Stores, and D’rishti.
In an interview with Mayo he discusses the future of India and what he hopes his handbags depict about India and women in general. “India is a changing country. We are a young country only having independence for fifty plus years. As our country internally gets stronger, our youth are creating opportunities for themselves.”
Mayo says he gets his inspiration from the emerging Indian woman. “Today’s Indian woman is very different than the Indian woman of the past. Today’s woman is strong, independent, opportunistic, and realistic at once. She is versatile. She can become the blushing bride, the sexy seductress, and the entrepreneurial businesswoman all at once.”
Mayo’s designs seek to embody this spirit while combining functionality along with fashion. VerMayo characteristically adds pieces of elegance such as unique handles or pretty embellishments. “I love to throw in some extra pop! Right now I am experimenting with combining different fabrics- suede, patent material…” says Mayo.
VerMayo bags average $50 sale price. VerMayo’s first opening will be at an exhibition in the resort town of Sedona. A sampling of VerMayo Autumn Winter Line will be available for sale. VerMayo plans to launch its first North America storefront in Scottsdale, Arizona, in early 2010 and hopes to have openings in other major metropolitan markets shortly after.
