Sedona, AZ: From Broadway and Cabaret, to Schubert and Beethoven, Bill Monroe and music recorded for the Smithsonian, Chamber Music Sedona will present nine Sunday subscription concerts. Sedona’s red rocks will ring with glorious music created by Grammy winners and nominees as Chamber Music Sedona presents its twenty-seventh season of “Magical Music in the Red Rocks.” All concerts begin at 2:30 p.m., at St. John Vianney Church unless otherwise noted.
Speaking the Chamber Music Sedona, Emerson String Quartet cellist David Finckel recently said, “You truly have a unique and wonderful series and we consider ourselves fortunate to have been a part of it! One thing is for sure: because of the music you bring to the community, the ear is not the poorer neighbor of the eye in Sedona!”
Sunday, October 11, the season begins when the German-based ATOS Trio makes its Arizona debut. The 2007 Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Award winning trio includes violinist Annette von Hehn, cellist Stefan Heinemeyer, and pianist Thomas Hoppe performing an all Schubert program. A pre-concert lecture will be presented from 1:15-1:55 p.m., immediately before the concert and all subscription concerts.
Sunday, November 1, the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center returns after a seven year hiatus. Performers include violinist Arnaud Sussmann, violist Paul Neubauer, cellist Fred Sherry, double-bassist Kurk Muroki, flutist Tara Helen O’Connor, clarinetist Jose Franch-Ballester, and pianist Gilbert Kalish. The concert includes music by Saint-Saens, Davidovsky, Beethoven and Schubert’s Trout Quintet.
Sunday, November 15, Grammy-winning violinist, composer, and teacher Mark O’Connor returns with his acclaimed solo recital performing foot-stomping fiddle tunes, his electrifying caprices and more as he pays warm homage to his violin and fiddle heroes from ragtime, free improvisation, jazz and blues. The concert is presented at Sedona United Methodist Church.
