Tlaquepaque Features Musical Fourth of July in Sedona Arizona
Sedona, AZ: For Independence Day vacationers to Sedona and locals who are staying put, Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village is geared up for some free, family-fun music that will get feet tapping and imaginations to exotic places and festive musical traditions south of the border.
A perfect beginning to a Sedona Fourth of July weekend is a stroll through Tlaquepaque’s beautiful Spanish style village, especially during First Friday at the Galleries. On Friday, July 3, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., enjoy the latest offerings from Tlaquepaque’s renowned world-class artists. Galleries will stay open until 8 p.m. Enjoy wine and hors d’oeuvres at selected galleries and let the celebrated ZAZU Gypsy Jazz Trio knock your socks off.
Described as “gypsy jazz, Manouche jazz, Django jazz, gypsy swing, it has the same unforgettable ingredients: infectious swing, melancholy, dark and moody shadings, improvisation with reckless abandon.” Guaranteed to transport you back in time — think Paris in the 1930s — ZAZU’s “gypsy style, flavored in dark chromatic runs, arpeggios, glissandos, diminished chords utilizes the swing articulation of the period,” according to Sedona’s Steve Douglas who plays upright bass for the trio. They perform from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., in Patio de las Campanas.
Be sure to come on back Saturday and Sunday, July 4 – 5, and catch Flavio and his enchantingly beautiful flute sounds and songs from South America. Playing on a variety of traditional South American flutes, Mountain Living Magazine in Flagstaff describes his music as "The combination of songs, music and stories that magically transports the audience South of the Border. Flavio’s repertoire includes not only Andean music but Latin Pop and World music that audiences have enjoyed all over the Southwest. Flavio performs July 4 – 5, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., in Patio de las Campanas. All weekend the performances are free and family-friendly.
Tlaquepaque, known as the Art and Soul of Sedona, is home to over 45 shops, galleries, and restaurants and is a must-see destination for travelers from all over the world. Visit www.tlaq.com, www.ShopTlaq.com or call (928) 282-4838 for more information.
