Section of Stormy Horse Sculpture By Dixie Jewett Showing In Sedona Arizona
^ A closeup of the sculpture "Stormy Bay" by Dixie Jewett.  "Stormy Bay" will be part of the "outdoor" exhibit during the "Indoor, Outdoor, Next Door" art show presented by Lanning Gallery and Turquoise Tortoise Gallery at the Hozho Center in Sedona.

The joy of Jewett’s horses is not only how realistic and alive with character each one is, but also how much fun it is to identify and relate to all the little bits.

She knows horses, of that there is no question. One has only to admire the precision with which she captures the nuance of a delicate fetlock or pastern, and the strength captured in every flank and withers, to know this is an artist of truly significant skill.

But with Jewett's work, whether an equine sculpture two feet high or an imposing steed standing twenty hands high, the surprise is in the artist's medium: junk.

Sculputure Parts On Horse Drifter By Dixie Jewett
^ Myriad found objects are joined into Jewett’s magnificent steeds as in this closeup of the sculpture, "Drifter." Jewett's sculptures are featured in the special art exhibit and can be seen outside at the Hozho Center. Jewett will be greeting visitors to the "1st Friday Gallery Tour" reception  on June 5.
