The Sunday line up includes the Tucson-based Crystal Creek Bluegrass Band, winners of the Telluride Bluegrass Festival 2008 Band Contest. The Burnett Family Bluegrass Band from Flagstaff and first place winners of the Telluride Bluegrass Festival 2004 Band Contest, will be joining Crystal Creek and O’Brien.
The Residency program (April 29 to May 3) includes eleven events, free, paid, special, benefit, educational and the Festival. The resident trio includes of bassist Todd Phillips, guitarist David Grier and mandolinist Matt Flinner who will perform three in-school concerts.
The overall schedule includes:
Wednesday, April 29: 7-8 p.m. Library Informance, admission 2 cans of food or $5/person to benefit the Sedona Food Bank.
Thursday, April 30: 5-7 p.m. Bluegrass BBQ Concert at the Segner Ranch in Mund’s Canyon, admission $50/person; reservations required.
Friday, May 1: 4:30-8:15 p.m. 1st Friday Artwalk with the Burnett Family Bluegrass Band, Sedona Historical Museum, Lanning and Ratliff Galleries, El Prado Gallery, and Goldenstein Gallery. Admission is free.
Saturday, May 2: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Workshops for mandolin, guitar and bass, Northern Arizona University School of Music, Flagstaff, $20/person; reservations requested.
Saturday, May 2: 1:30-4 p.m. Festival Preview with Burnett Family and Crystal Creek Bands at Winslow High School in association with the City of Winslow and Winslow Arts & Culture Commission.
Sunday, May 3: Noon to 6 p.m. Sedona Bluegrass Festival, Los Abrigados Creekside, $40/adults, $20/students 10-17, $10/children 3-9 years.
“The festival is all about artistic quality, educating listeners about bluegrass, and accessibility,” said Bert Harclerode. "From our school children to visitors, we’re offering multiple points of entry to this wonderful form of American chamber music."
Tickets may be purchased in Sedona at Bashas' and Rycus' Corners-VOC, in Cottonwood at Planet Video & Music, and in Flagstaff at Cedar Music and Arizona Music Pro. Tickets may also be purchased on line via paypal.
