Sedona, AZ: After an amazing year in 2007 culminating with wins for the coveted title of Artist of the Year at the Native American Music Awards (Nammys), quickly followed by Best Instrumental Album at the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards (Cammys), “Lord of the Strings” Arvel Bird is on the road touring the nation, and abroad, with his new show “Many Tribes, One Fire,” and introducing his long-awaited new CD “Tribal Music Suite: Journey of a Paiute” to his many fans.
The Sedona performance is at the Canyon Moon Theatre, 6601 State Route 179, in the Oak Creek Factory Outlets, next to Cody’s Pet Emporium, on Saturday, December 27, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 prior to show and $20 at the door.
It’s an exciting and busy time in the artist’s life — the new album is a concerto in eight movements designed to be played with a symphony orchestra, and the great news is that the Knoxville Symphony has just agreed to come onboard and debut it in April. With so much happening Bird couldn’t be happier to be back in his home state for the Holidays to share all his good news. He has a huge following of fans in Arizona because he’s played in towns up and down the state for many years, has appeared on TV and radio, and been featured in local newspapers. Arizonans have been very kind to him indeed, and he always looks forward to being able to bring the medicine of his music to them any chance he gets.
His tour starts off in Phoenix on December 12-14 when he’ll headline the music once more at the Pueblo Grande Indian Market; then it’s on to Tucson for a concert on December 16; Sedona on December 27; a Unity Church show in Mesa on January 4; the Litchfield Park Native American Fine Arts Festival on January 10-11; and the Carefree Fine Art and Wine Festival on January 16-18.
He’s looking forward to visiting all of the towns, but Sedona will always be a very special place to him because he got married there nineteen years ago – and is still happily wed to manager Kimberly Kelley, who travels with him wherever he goes along with their two Shi Tzus Coco and Candy.
International award-winning world musician Arvel Bird is a classically trained violinist who went on to play with such top country stars as Glen Campbell, Loretta Lynn, Ray Price, Louise Mandrell, and many more. He finally gave up the “safe” life in Nashville when he felt the need to bring his own music out into the world.
