Sedona Festival Celebrates Jazz All Day in Sedona Arizona

A Crowd Of Fans At Jazz Fest In Sedona Arizona

Sedona, AZ: Under a sunny sky on the beautiful grounds of the Radisson Poco Diablo, jazz lovers converged to enjoy the celebrated Sedona Jazz on the Rocks music festival on day three of the four-day festival.  Headliners included the legendary Bobby Hutcherson, Giacomo Gates, and the return of Cinco de Moio. The day long jazzfest was kicked off the SJOR Youth Band followed by the Tony Monaco Trio.

Described as “hip and cool, Giacomo Gates, a smoky-voiced jazz singer from the East Coast, represents the best in jazz vocals,” Gates kept toes tapping and the audience engaged. The vocalist entertained the crowd with old favorites – If I Were You Baby, I’d Love Me, Blue Skies, and PS I Love You.

Filling in for a guest performer who didn’t show, Gates captured the crowd’s imagination with his simulated “trombone.” Fans adored his play-on-lyrics with Benny’s From Heaven, lamenting the sorrowful woes of a single mother. The playful tune was followed up with that famous smokey style in a soft-toned rendition of Pennies From Heaven.
