Legendary Bobby Hutcherson Receives Jazz Fest Lifetime Achievement Award in Sedona Arizona![]() Sedona, AZ: Sedona Jazz On The Rocks headliner, Bobby Hutcherson, was the recipient of the 2008 Festival's Lifetime Achievement Award. Marion Herrman, founder of the renowned jazzfest, commended Hutcherson on his body of work and innovative style as the event on Saturday came to an end. SJOR Executive Director, Carol Golden presented the award. In accepting the award, Hutcherson quipped, "Does that mean I'm going to expire soon," and followed with heartfelt gratitude in accepting the award. ![]() Hutcherson is considered the “premiere jazz vibraphonist of today.” He has played and collaborated with jazz legends Billy Mitchell, Archie Shepp, Eric Dolphy and Tony Williams, Chick Corea, and Joe Sample. His newest release is For Sentimental Reasons. The legendary Hutcherson concluded the day-long jazz festival with a crowd pleasing performance, demonstrating his distinctive style on on the vibraphone.
