The Fosters will ride to Sedona for this year’s Festival with six other jazz fans. “It’s a journey to mecca for us for that once-a-year festival, listening to great jazz, sitting in the green grass at the Poco Diablo Resort,” he said. “Tell me what’s bad about that?”
The 27th annual Sedona Jazz on the Rocks Festival extends over nearly a week, with free and ticketed events throughout Sedona. The main event, the all-day outdoor JazzFest Saturday, September 27, on the lawn at the Radisson Poco Diablo Resort, begins at 10 a.m. featuring the Bobby Hutcherson Quintet, vocalist Giacomo Gates, B3 organist Tony Monaco, Cinco de Moio with vocalist Salome, and the 2008 Sedona Jazz on the Rocks Youth Jazz Band.
Individual tickets start at $65 for lawn seating and $85 for chair seating. Seats in the VIP Tent are $125 for SJOR members only.
Proceeds support Sedona Jazz on the Rocks educational programs and scholarships for students from across Arizona. 2008 sponsors include Abundance Vineyards, APS, Arizona Informant, The Arizona Republic, AzJazz.net, Best Western, Bistro Bella Terra, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, eSedona, Hilton Sedona Resort & Spa, Key Magazine, KJZZ, KYOT, Miller-Northland Beverage, Radisson Poco Diablo Resort, Sedona Arts & Culture Commission, Sedona Rouge, and White Tie.
