Sedona Marathon Teams with Wharton Performance in Sedona Arizona Sedona, AZ: The fourth annual Sedona Marathon is scheduled to take place on February 7, 2009, once again bringing in runners from around the globe. In its three year history the Sedona Marathon has received international acclaim, Japanese sports reporter Hajime Nishi named the event one of his top ten favorite world-wide marathons and National Geographic Adventurer Magazine featured it as one of the great “instant weekend adventures.”Marathon organizers have teamed up with the renowned Wharton Performance. Nicknamed “The Mechanics” by USA Today. The Whartons are internationally known trainers, therapists, and authors who established their practice in 1989, and changed the face of human performance. They have worked with luminaries in the sports world from professional football players to Olympic gold medal winners, having personally trained over 500 Olympic medalists. Phil Wharton personally designed a series of downloadable training Mp3’s for the Sedona Marathon and will be giving free training clinics prior to the event. ![]() The full marathon is one of three races scheduled for the event. There is also a half marathon race and a 5K. Walkers are welcome and the 5K in particular is popular with families and others who don’t normally consider themselves to be athletes. The age range of participants begins at age 4 and goes all the way up to 78. The Sedona Marathon is a production of Four Winds Adventures.
