Sedona, AZ: Carol Golden has been named Executive Director of Sedona Jazz on the Rocks as the Festival heads into its 27th year on September 23-28.
Golden, a longtime volunteer for the Jazz Festival as well as for the Sedona International Film Festival, was previously Director of National Group Sales and Marketing for Sedona Red Rock Jeep Tours.
Before moving to Sedona, Golden served as president of two non-profit educational organizations in Pleasanton, Calif., where she also was part of a seven-person grassroots team that designed and implemented a strategy leading to passage of an $83 million bond measure for school capital improvements.
She also has served on the fundraising committee of the Verde Valley Medical Center Foundation.
"Carol brings an incredible enthusiasm for the Festival and a deep appreciation for jazz in all its forms to Sedona Jazz on the Rocks that will be essential in moving the organization and the Festival forward," said SJOR Board President Lil Lombardo
"She also brings a critical focus on our mission to support music education for our youth."
"Educating kids is what we do," Golden said. "We use music to teach music and have supported hundreds of young people with scholarships and performance opportunities for nearly 30 years. We have been extremely fortunate to have had the support not only of the community in these efforts but some of the greatest names in jazz to help us reach, inspire and support our young people."
The 27th annual Sedona Jazz on the Rocks Festival brings together a diverse and eclectic mix of jazz artists and an expanded-event schedule, September 23-28, at locations throughout Sedona.
Proceeds support Sedona Jazz on the Rocks educational programs and scholarships for students from across Arizona. The 2008 sponsors include Abundance Vineyards, APS, Arizona Informant, The Arizona Republic,
