Sedona, AZ: Lead singers from the River of Life Tabernacle Choir, Ron Tolson and Brian Pace, will help kick off this year’s Festival of Lights with a free performance in the Chapel at Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village on Friday, December 12, from 3 to 7 p.m.
Taking place the day before the lighting of 6,000 luminarias, this special concert will feature piano playing and vocals from a new CD featuring sacred hymns and holiday music.
“This music is sure to fill listeners with the spirit of the holidays,” said Wendy Lippman, Tlaquepaque General Manager and Resident Partner. “Everyone can enjoy the concert Friday night and then come back to hear the entire choir perform Saturday and help light the luminarias.”
Tolson’s melodic baritone voice has been described as “powerful,” “incredible,” and “deeply moving.” His music crosses all age, ethnic and socioeconomic barriers, allowing listeners to experience a piece of heaven. He has appeared in musical productions such as, “Brother, Brother, Stop” and “Fiddler On The Roof.” He has also been featured on a number of albums in addition to recording two of his own. His most recent release-featuring pianist Pace is “Hymns…timeless.”
The non-denominational Chapel at Tlaquepaque is one of the most special venues in Northern Arizona and boasts great acoustics. Primarily used for weddings or other private gatherings, this is a rare opportunity for the public to attend an event in this memorable location. Stained glass windows and hand-carved leather pews, a stunning mural over the altar, and whitewashed adobe walls make for a beautifully intimate setting.
The 35th annual Festival of Lights featuring music, the lighting of 6,000 luminarias throughout the courtyards and walkways of Tlaquepaque, and a visit from Santa, will be celebrated from 3 to 8 p.m. The River of Life Tabernacle Choir will be singing in the Plaza de la Fuente from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The Art and Soul of Sedona, Tlaquepaque is the home to more than 40 shops and galleries and four restaurants, visited by more than one million tourists each year.
