Once the plan is in place Kaufmann begins working early in the morning and continues for 12-14 hours.  Planning, executing and finishing a piece could take over a week.  She coats each woven piece with two coats of UV protection.  Next on her to-do list is a basket woven into the form of a möbius strip and an earth-toned basket on a teak wood base.

For most of us a lifestyle that includes walking 4-5 miles a day, working out several days a week, playing golf, hiking in the red rocks, sewing and reading would more than fill our days; but, for Betty Kaufmann it is the added opportunity to create something innovative and share it with others that makes her beautiful life complete.
