In "Noise", Oscar-winner Tim Robbins stars as David Owen, a determined New Yorker who takes matters into his own hands when the noise of the city begins to drive him crazy.
Sedona, AZ: The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Arizona premiere of "Noise", starring Tim Robbins, William Hurt and William Baldwin. There will be two screenings of the film at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., on Tuesday, April 29, at Harkins Sedona Six Theatres.
The Sedona screenings of "Noise" are presented two weeks before the film’s theatrical release in New York and Los Angeles. "Noise" is the second film in a five-week series presented by the film festival every Tuesday through May 20th.
"Our audiences have a chance to see this film first, before the big cities, thanks to our relationship with the film distributor, ThinkFilm," said film festival director Patrick Schweiss. "Audiences at the AFI Film Festival in Dallas were on their feet with ovations and thunderous applause when the film premiered."
Writer/director Henry Bean ("The Believer") returns to the big screen with a complete rarity in American movies today: a comedy of ideas.
When David Owen (Oscar-winner Tim Robbins) moves to New York, he likes everything about the city except the noise. Indeed, at first, even noise seems to him the throb of urban vitality which makes New York so exciting. Yet gradually this incessant and "unnecessary" din begins to drive him crazy. He begins to realize that Manhattan is a place where it’s too noisy to get a good night's sleep, listen to classical music, or even make love to his wife without disturbance.
It is not only the recurring intrusions into his thoughts or the distraction from the task at hand — though these are bad enough — worse is the daily recognition that he can do nothing about it. It comes to seem that the message behind noise, indeed perhaps its chief purpose, is to remind him the he is powerless. And he finds this is intolerable.
