Sedona Film Festival Presents Arizona Premiere of Starting Out In the Evening

Sdona Film Fest - Starting Out In The Evening

Starting Out - Frank and Lauren: Frank Langella stars as Leonard Schiller, a best-selling novelist whose life is shaken by the arrival of Heather (Lauren Ambrose), an ambitious graduate student who hopes to discover the man behind the words, in "Starting Out in the Evening." The film is the feature presentation Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. at Harkins Sedona Six Theatres.

Sedona, AZ: "Starting Out in the Evening," which played to audience and critical raves at the Sundance and Toronto Film Festivals, will be featured at the October installment of the popular Sedona Film Fest's Second Tuesday Cinema Series. It is the feature presentation at 7 p.m., October 9, at the Harkins Sedona Six Theatres.

Presented by the Sedona International Film Festival and Workshop,
the screening marks the exclusive Arizona premiere of the film. Frank Langella returns to the big screen playing Leonard Schiller, a once-famous New York writer who is both shaken and emboldened when a beautiful graduate student invades his solitude to mine his life for her thesis about his novels.

The film's writer and director, Andrew Wagner, will be present at the Sedona debut to introduce the film and host a Q&A discussion following the screening.

"Langella delivers what I believe is the best performance of his career," says Patrick Schweiss, executive director. "He is simply outstanding, as is the rest of the supporting cast — all under the talented guidance of director Wagner. It promises to be a thought-provoking post-film discussion."

All that remains for Leonard Schiller (Langella) is to finish the novel he has been laboring on for almost ten years. With his four earlier books out of print, he has learned to starve himself of the desire for the success he was once so close to, though beneath this practice lives a pull for his work to be rediscovered.

His solitary writer's life is shaken by the arrival of Heather (Lauren Ambrose), an ambitious graduate student who persuades him that she can use her thesis to spur a rediscovery of his work. Schiller's early novels had an electrifying impact on Heather, inspiring her decision to choose a literary vocation. Now she is on a crusade to uncover the man behind the words.
