Flagstaff, Arizona: With its 200 acres of wildflower meadows, cultivated gardens, natural forest and pond, The Arboretum at Flagstaff has always been a favorite place for bird lovers, providing wonderful varied habitat for over 100 species of birds.

Recently The Arboretum added another reason for birders and nature enthusiasts of all kinds to get excited—an ongoing raptor demonstration program presented by High Country Raptors. Feathered dignitaries like Buffy the barn owl and Beau the Harris hawk delight Arboretum visitors every weekend from April through October. Powerful, majestic, and more than a little mysterious, these amazing creatures soar over visitors' heads in "free flight" demonstrations based on the ancient art of falconry while their volunteer handlers explain about the birds' biology and the role they play in the high desert ecosystem.
