Shelly Davis, Sedona Rouge Hotel and Spa Food and Beverage Manager: "Half of our wines are from small production boutique wineries."
Sedona, Arizona: Ed Conway, Manager of the Sedona Rouge Hotel and Spa, announced today that the hotel's restaurant, Reds, has been included in Wine Spectator's 2007 Restaurant Awards. The annual award recognizes restaurants whose wine lists offer interesting selections, are appropriate to their cuisine, and appeal to a wide range of wine lovers.
"About half of our wines are from small production boutique wineries," says Shelly Davis, Food and Beverage Manager for Sedona Rouge Hotel and Spa, "who specialize in quality and presentation of the grapes rather than mass production. We want our guests to have access to wines they can't find every place else. This month, we're featuring a rosé wine tasting trio including Chateau de Trinquevedel "Tavel" Rosé, Charles Melton's Rosé of Virginia, and Turkey Flat Vineyard Rosé from Barossa Valley."
Patz and Hall Wine Company and Paradigm Winery were featured at Reds' April wine dinner pairing the former's '05 Hyde and Alder Springs Chardonnays with jumbo lump crab and a ginger crab beignet to start. Their '05 and '04 Hyde and Alder Springs Pinot Noirs were featured respectively in the second course with a seared duck breast and anise scented salmon. For the entrée trio of roast leg of lamb, rack of lamb, and braised beef short ribs, Davis served Paradigm's Oakville Merlot '03 and their Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon '03.
"We're proud of this award from Wine Spectator," says Conway. "Our team at Reds has worked hard to develop our wine list, including selections from around the world and keeping the inventory fresh with exceptional wines."
