Cliff Dwellings of the Verde Valley

February 7: A program on Cliff Dwellings of the Verde Valley: An Archeological Perspective on a Unique Architectural Trend will be presented on Sunday, at 2 p.m., in the theater at Red Rock State Park. Matt Guebard, park archeologist from Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot National Monuments, will present the program. The presentation will describe cliff dwellings and cavates used in the Verde Valley during the 13th and 14th centuries.

Sedona Film Festival Presents Reach For Me

February 9th: Academy Award nominee Seymour Cassel will be in Sedona for a special premiere event along with the producer of the film Charlene Blaine-Schulenburg. The heartwarming and uplifting new film Reach For Me starring Seymour Cassel and Alfre Woodard premieres in Sedona on Tuesday.

Chamber Music Sedona Presents the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet

February 14th: Chamber Music Sedona proudly presents The Los Angeles Guitar Quartet. The concert will be held on Sunday, beginning at 2:30 p.m., at the St. John Vianney Church. Celebrating its twenty-seventh year on the concert stage, the members of the award-winning Los Angeles Guitar Quartet continue to set the standard for expression and virtuosity among guitar ensembles, while perennially redefining themselves in their musical explorations.

Geology Hike At Red Rock State Park

February 14th: On the second Sunday, visitors can join a volunteer on a guided geology hike through Red Rock State Park. You will learn why the rocks are red, where they came from, where they are going, and more.

From Earth to Sky: Paintings by Sally Hall Exhibit at Kolb Studio

Through February 17th: When she was a child, fascinating imagery literally came up out of the ground around Sally Hall's feet in the form of tantalizing remnants of the Ancients who had known the Grand Canyon before her. The opening reception for the exhibit is on Tuesday, December 1, from 7 - 9 p.m., at the Kolb Studio.

16th Annual Sedona International Film Festival

February 21st - 28th: From Aiden Quinn's A Shine of Rainbows to The Greatest, a new film by Susan Sarandon and Pierce Brosnan, to an appearance by Oscar-winning documentary director Michael Moore and a series of family friendly movies, the 16th annual Sedona International Film Festival will bring 140 films to eight screens over seven nights.

Archaeology and Heritage Awareness Month

March 1st ndash; 31st:: For the entire month of March, the Arizona State Parks' State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) is coordinating activities throughout the state for the 27th anniversary celebration of Arizona Archaeology and Heritage Awareness Month.

Chamber Music Sedona Presents the Fry Street Quartet

March 7th: Chamber Music Sedona proudly presents the Fry Street Quartet. The concert will be held on Sunday, beginning at 2:30 p.m., at the St. John Vianney Church. The Residency is March 4-7. Hailed as a triumph of ensemble playing (New York Times), the Fry Street Quartet (FSQ) has perfected a blend of technical precision and scorching spontaneity (Strad).

Chamber Music Sedona Presents the Tokyo String Quartet

March 28th: The Tokyo String Quartet (TSQ) has captivated audiences and critics alike since it was founded in 1969 at the Juilliard School of Music. Regarded as one of the supreme chamber ensembles of the world, the TSQ, violinists Martin Beaver and Kikuei Ikeda, violist Kazuhide Isomura and cellist Clive Greensmith has collaborated with a remarkable array of artists and composers, built a comprehensive catalogue of critically acclaimed recordings and established a distinguished teaching record.

Gunnar Widforss Exhibit at the Museum of Northern Arizona

Through June 1: The unrivaled Widforss legacy of landscape realism is highlighted in the Museum of Northern Arizona's newest exhibit, Gunnar Widforss mdash;Painter of the National Parks. The last major Widforss exhibit was at MNA in 1969. Fifty-one paintings and drawings from the Museum's Fine Arts Collection and ten Arizona collectors will showcase the accuracy and detail of Widforss' painting and the greatness of his body of work.

Ancient Earth Landscapes Exhibit

Through August 29th: Geologists who study ordinary layers of limestone, sandstone, and shale in the high desert country of the Colorado Plateau are able to describe the ancient environments that once existed in this region and how those environments evolved. Ancient Landscapes of the Colorado Plateau, a new exhibit at the Museum of Northern Arizona in Flagstaff, takes visitors on a geologic journey of discovery with Dr. Ron Blakey and Wayne Ranney, map maker and author, respectively, of their new book by the same title.
