Sedona Film Festival Presents Coyote County Loser
Sedona Film Festival Presents Coyote County Loser
Coyote County Loser, an award-winning romantic comedy and critic favorite, makes a stop in Sedona for its Arizona premiere. The film is being presented by the Sedona International Film Festival in a one-night-only special engagement as part of its Tuesday Cinema Series. There will be two screenings of the film at 4 and 7 p.m. at Harkins Sedona Six Theatres on Tuesday, November 17.

“Coyote County Loser” producer and co-writer Jacob Roebuck will be in Sedona to host both screenings and conduct Q&A discussions following both shows.

“We are so proud to be presenting this crowd-pleasing, family-friendly romantic comedy right before the holiday season,” said Patrick Schweiss, film festival director. “It is our way of saying thank you to our members and this entire community for the support they’ve shown to our film festival this entire year. We are very grateful.”

Can losers find love? Southwest desert radio station K-RAP is struggling to pay the bills when radio jock Jack Proctor (Beau Clark) zooms through Coyote County on his way to LA to take the gig of a lifetime. But the deal stalls, so Jack temps on-air work for K-RAP.

Dr. Lauren Hartford (Nikki Boyer), local on-air relationship expert,
gets under Jack’s skin by questioning his love advice — so Jack initiates a high stakes contest to find Coyote County’s biggest loser and help him woo the county’s most unattainable woman. Jack launches an on-air battle to prove his suave ways are more effective in helping listeners find love than her by-the-book advice.

Before this battle-of-the-sexes is over, Jack and Lauren will learn love is for losers after all.

“Coyote County Loser” captured the coveted Best Comedy Award at the Breckenridge Festival of Film. Critics have applauded the film as being a real winner — uplifting and entertaining, earnest and likable — with a cast that is “charming and sure to captivate and entertain you.”

“We are thrilled to bring an upbeat, family-friendly film to audiences who are looking for something to make them smile,” said producer Jacob Roebuck, who also co-wrote the film with his twin brother Lucas. “Movie-goers have enjoyed the film and its message about the nature of real love.”

The Roebuck brothers devised the story for the film based on a one-act play
they had written seven years ago for the Arts Center of the Ozarks stage. The idea resurfaced about three years ago when Jacob decided to turn his dream of making movies into a reality.

“Coyote County Loser” seemed to be the kind of romantic comedy that would have mass appeal while delivering a substantive and meaningful message about real love.

“Real love isn’t based on a practical decision or an emotional rush but on a commitment to sacrifice oneself for a partner,” said Jacob.

“We wanted to use this humorous vehicle to look at what Hollywood often gets wrong about love,” added Lucas. “Movies show us romanticism as love, and some even tell us love is about relational security. Few movies look at selflessness as love.”

In addition to Beau Clark and Nikki Boyer (from TV Guide’s “Watch This”), “Coyote County Loser” features an accomplished cast of film and television who’s who, including: Fredric Doss (Transformers, G.I. Joe), K. Callen (Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, All in the Family, Dallas), and Wayne Grace (Frasier, Seinfeld, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman). The film marks the feature film directorial debut of Jason Naumann.

“It promises to be a fun and entertaining night,” added Schweiss. “And Jacob will give us the behind-the-scenes look at the film that has been dubbed a ‘romantic comedy for the loser in all of us.’ It will provide some great laughs as we head into the holiday season.”

The title sponsor for the event is OneMotion Picture Productions,
presenting “Just Loving.” The lodging host and hospitality sponsor is Sedona Rouge Hotel & Spa. The series is also made possible by grants from the Arizona Commission on the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts and the City of Sedona.

The film festival is proud to announce that this is “Member Appreciation Night”
where Film Sedona Members are admitted free of charge as a way of thanking them for their year-round support. The general public is also invited to both screenings.

“Coyote County Loser” will be shown at Harkins Sedona Six Theatres on Tuesday, November 17, at 4 and 7 p.m. Film Sedona members are admitted free of charge. Tickets are $10 for non-member general admission and will be available starting at 3 p.m., that day in the Harkins lobby. Cash or checks only are accepted. Film Sedona members can reserve tickets in advance at the Sedona International Film Festival office, 1785 W. Hwy. 89A, Suite 2B, or by calling 928-282-1177.
