Sedona Heritage Museum Features Aprons, Aprons, Aprons
The Sedona Heritage Museum announces its newest temporary exhibit “Aprons, Aprons, Aprons.”
Aprons tell a story about women's lives and roles since they were almost exclusively handmade and worn by women in their homes every day. This display features aprons from about 1900 to the 1960s and ranges from fancy tea aprons to very utilitarian ‘allover’ aprons.
There are pieced and patchwork aprons from the 1930s when money for new fabric was scarce. There are complicated and bright colored aprons popular after the doldrums of WWII. Friends of the Museum opened their apron drawers and collections for this special exhibit. Aprons are now very collectible and a way to stay connected and 'tied' to the past.
This exhibit will continue through mid-January.
The Sedona Historical Society operates the Sedona Heritage Museum on the Jordan Farmstead at 735 Jordan Road in Jordan Park. The Museum is open daily at 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Society seeks to research, preserve and teach the history of the greater Sedona area. For more information about this special presentation or the Museum call 928-282-7038 or visit www.sedonamuseum.org.
