ARTIST SPOTLIGHT

Gretchen Lopez, painter and art instructor, and Chris Navarro, sculptor.

Gretchen Lopez. "My inspiration is fueled by a combination of things, my heritage, the Native American and Hispanic cultures, and the rich color and beauty of the Southwest. I feel so driven to interpret what I see on a daily basis. I have to say, the joy of teaching and helping others to grow in their art life, has been the most rewarding and inspiring experience of my career. I love to learn from and to be inspired by my students. What better place to have all this come together, than here in our beautiful Southwest. 'INSPIRED 09' will open up the door for so many to experience and become a wonderful part of the creative experience that is Sedona and Northern Arizona. Part of our goal as artists is to make this area the pulse of the art community, and share the joy of creativity!"

Chris Navarro, from Casper, Wyoming and Sedona, Arizona, has been sculpting professionally since 1986 and is best known for his large monumental sculptures. He and his wife, Lynne, own Navarro Gallery located in Tlaquepaque in Sedona. He is represented in galleries across the United States. His reflections of the West have given Navarro a national following, and collectors covet his limited editions. "Family, horses, rodeo and art have been the driving passions of my life." Chris, a former bull and bronc rider, still competes in team roping. Chris believes that the most worthwhile thing in art is to see what's in someone else's heart.
