Lanning Gallery Introduces Collecting Made Easy

July’s “1st Friday Gallery Tour” in Sedona includes something different at Lanning Gallery. Visitors to the gallery will be introduced to just how easy collecting original art can be on July 3, from 5-8 p.m. “We’re committed to doing our part to keep today’s economy moving,” says Gallery Director Isabelle Cozart. “We want to create win-win opportunities for our artists as well as our clients as best we can.” What this means is that it’s an excellent time to buy original art and for beginning collectors it’s a great time to put a toe in the water. At 6:30 p.m., the gallery offers a talk on Valuable Collecting Insights; all are welcome to this free event. For 22 years Lanning Gallery has been known for the expertise of its staff, a great help to clients just beginning their collections. “There’s nothing like the personal joy of living with a piece of original art,” Cozart points out, “and it’s surprisingly easy to get started.” The Classic and Contemporary Art gallery will be showcasing a variety of its more affordable pieces in a wide range of styles and mediums. The pieces range from those by artists on the rise, such as the Sarah Vaaler, about whom Gallery Owner, Peggy Lanning says, “Sophisticated abstract paintings, of great depth, are what defines her;” to the traditions of Expressionism and Impressionism captured in vibrant oil paintings by Cynthia Reid. Smaller paintings by some of the masters, such as Russian artist Slava Tch, as well as certain of the gallery’s sculptures and glasswork, can be surprisingly reasonable. Those new to collecting often wonder how to best choose art to live with – art pieces that can move with them as they relocate or redecorate. “As long as you buy pieces that speak to you,” Cozart advises, “no matter how disparate they may seem there will be a thread of you that unites your collection.” By also offering flexible payment options, Lanning Gallery encourages all visitors to embrace the fact that now is a perfect time to purchase art and a great time to begin or add to a collection. The gallery is open daily 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., Sundays.
