The last Factory Outlet Art and Craft Show for the spring will be held with around 50 artists in attendance. This will be a three day show and the last one was so successful that artists from far and wide are clamoring to exhibit. There will be many fine painters, among them June Payne Hart, Larry Beck, Bob Quick, Tony Zenan, Charles Freeman, Richard Roberts, Larry Ashkie, John Bader, Judy Durr and Roger Kull.
There will also be several furniture makers represented including Turan Zunnan, Tom Goodwin, Kathy Bechamp, George Wilkerson, and Kyle Jacobsen. Photographers include Steve Coombs and Robin and Joe Berardi, and mixed media wall art includes Scott Luchansky, Marcus Amshoff, Charlie Watkins, en Hymer, Philonese Baisden, Glenn Hinz with copper and Miles Roberts with pottery.
Jewelry will range from very fine high end to more affordable and fun, and will include Louise Ashkie, Astrid Zunnan, Tom Kidd, Henry and Jake Nez, Gene Sabia, Glow Ybarra, Rosales Black, Randy McMannus, Paul Lasia, Patty Hoish, Dyanne Silver, Judy Olvera, and Laura Albert. There will also be a Santa Fe type sidewalk display of Native American jewelry and pottery.
The featured artists are a husband and wife team from Cave Creek. Roger Kull and Judy Durr have displayed in Sedona since the 90's, but not for quite awhile now. The new Factory Outlet show caught their interest and the public will have a chance to meet them again at last.
Roger does very unique sculptured leather artwork. This is 3-dimensional and usually includes turquoise as well. The subject matter is southwestern and frequently is Native American pottery, although he also does landscapes, portraits, and historical recreations. His work is all one of a kind and original. Roger is also an author. His book is an autobiographical account of his early life and it is called "Lightning Struck My Family Tree." The book is about survival, loyalty, love, and all the things that make us what we turn out to be.
Judith Durr is Choctaw/Cherokee and paints oil paintings representing Southwestern still life, historical research and western life. Judith consistently paints the detailed rug background from the rugs she has collected over the years. Many of the Native rugs, beaded moccasins and the jewelry Judith uses are old family pieces acquired while her family lived on the Navajo reservation in Montezuma Creek, Utah. Her collection of authentic artifacts gives her source material to create the most accurate subject matter for her twelve layer paintings. Joan Cawley Gallery publishes and produces Judith's fine art prints and posters.
The show runs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, May 15-16-17, at the Factory Outlets in the Village of Oak Creek, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., each day.
