Canyon Moon Theatre Presents Jerry Finnegan's Sister
Canyon Moon Theatre Presents Jerry Finnegan's Sister
Seventeen years of missed opportunities ends now! At least, that’s what Brian Dowd is planning in Jerry Finnegan’s Sister, the highly acclaimed comedy by Jack Neary playing at Canyon Moon March 5-22.  Directed by Gail Edwards and starring Justin Ove and Amelia Swann, Jerry Finnegan's Sister is that rare comedy that is thoroughly entertaining, very funny, and, ultimately, touching.

Brian has spent the last 10 years of his life wrestling with an unrequited "something" for his best friend's sister, who happens to live next door. But each and every time he's spoken with Beth Finnegan for more than 30 seconds, he's ended up with his foot planted firmly in his mouth. Now, Brian's time is about to run out. With recent news that Jerry Finnegan's sister is getting married, the time has come for him to put up or shut up. Like John Wayne in The High and the Mighty, Brian has reached the point of no return. What's he got to lose--except the love of his life!

In a series of fast-moving, hysterically funny scenes, we see Brian and Beth from ages seven and six, through their adolescent and teen years, right up to the moment the play is happening. This offbeat comedy has charmed audiences of all ages, and has been produced with great success throughout the United States and even in Paris where it was called La Soeur de Jerry King, because, it seems, there are no French Finnegans.

Gail Edward’s is a familiar face to CMT audiences through her work on stage and television. With roles on Full House, Blossom, The Family Man and It’s a Living, Gail delighted audiences with her sense of comedy and her instinct for creating characters that come alive. For CMT Gail played Nell in Charlie Cox Runs with Scissors and directed last season’s hit show, Maybe Baby, It's You.

Jerry Finnegan’s Sister has been hailed by critics as "A delight...a gem! Has enough chuckles, guffaws and belly laughs to please any patron."

Performances are Thursday, March 5, through Sunday, March 22. Shows are at 7:30 p.m., Thursdays through Saturdays and 3 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets are $16 for preview nights of Thursday, March 5, and Friday, March 6. All other dates are $19 for General Admission and $11 for full-time students. Canyon Moon Theatre is located in the Oak Creek Factory Outlets, three doors down from The GAP, on State Route 179 in the Village of Oak Creek.
