The Sedona Heritage Museum features Arizona's official neckwear - the Bolo Tie - in the its current changing exhibit.
A bolo or bola tie is a type of necktie generally associated with the West. It was made the official neckwear of Arizona in 1971. Legend has it that an Arizona silversmith invented the uniquely American tie by accident.
Many Sedona residents and friends of the Museum have loaned their bola ties for this special exhibit, including the Beeler family who has loaned a bola tie designed and worn by Joe Beeler. There is also a bola tie from the Sedona Chapter of the Bola Tie Society.
In addition to the bola tie exhibit, a local stamp collector has loaned several examples of collectible stamps. Both these exhibits will be on display until mid-May.
The Sedona Heritage Museum is located at 735 Jordan Road in Uptown Sedona and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, call 928-282-7038 or visit www.sedonamuseum.org.
