Big Pete Pearson Comes To Canyon Moon Theatre

Big Pete Pearson and his Big Pete Blues Band will perform at Canyon Moon Theatre on Friday, November 28, at 8 p.m. Pearson was inducted into the Arizona Blues Hall of Fame in 1995. Pearson is Arizona’s King of the Blues. His band is composed of phenomenal musicians. Mike Howard plays lead guitar; J.D. Dunkin, keyboard; Jackie Tutt, bass with Charles Hendrix on drums. Pete’s physical stature and strong voice command attention both on stage and off. He has served as a mentor to many young blues entertainers. According to the Houston publication, The Scene, “Pearson is a blues belter extraordinaire. He uses his huge, gravel and honey voice like a finely tuned instrument, wringing out the raw emotion in every song. This is juke joint performance at its best.” Pete is also a huge success in Europe. His CD, I’m Here Baby, is the number one Blues CD in the world! Born in Jamaica, Pearson moved to Austin, Texas as a child. He was raised by his grandparents at St. John’s Baptist Church. His grandfather was a minister and his grandmother ran a local mission. He learned to play the bass and guitar and his grandmother taught him to sing. He played his first gig at age nine at a local beer joint although his grandparents thought he was singing with a spiritual group at the Church. He hasn’t stopped singing since. Big Pete has worked with blues legends Ray Charles, BB King, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker and others. Spend the evening after Thanksgiving with your family at Canyon Moon Theatre.
