The Sedona International Film Festival proudly presents the exclusive Arizona premiere of Soldier’s Heart in a special one-night-only engagement on Wednesday, November 12, just following the national observance of Veteran’s Day. There will be two screenings of the film at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Harkins Sedona Six Theatres.
In honor of Veteran’s Day and in appreciation of our armed forces, the film festival is proud to offer free admission to any veteran who served in any war.
The film’s writer/director (and also a veteran himself) Brian Delate and lead actor James Kiberd will be in Sedona to host the screenings and conduct Q&A discussions following both shows.
Winner of the Best Narrative Feature Film Award at the G.I. Film Festival in Washington, DC, Soldier’s Heart is a unique, powerful and touching film about veterans as told by a veteran.
Vietnam vet Elliot (James Kiberd) has held it together until now. Old feelings about his experience as a soldier in the Vietnam War re-appear affecting and concerning his wife Linda, his parents and fellow veteran Richie. Suddenly, Elliot is forced to redesign his blueprint for living by dealing with the long-term effects of the war and his relationships to his family, wife and friends.
Certain truths of Elliot's war experience emerge with heart and humor to provide a deeper understanding of his father — a World War II vet. Can he forge a new path in his marriage to Linda? And will he ever truly realize his bond with Richie?
As Elliot struggles to deal with the effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, he suddenly finds himself waking up to the present and begins his journey of self-acceptance.
Brian Delate will be in Sedona to host the film and a Q&A discussion following both screenings. Joining him will be veteran actor of stage, screen and television, James Kiberd. Perhaps best known for his 12-year stint as Trevor Dillon in TV’s “All My Children”, Kiberd is a unique hybrid of talented actor, committed artist, and a dedicated humanitarian. Kiberd became the only daytime Star to be cited as one of the top 15 Fan Favorites of the 90s. Notably one of Oprah’s favorite guests, Kiberd has demonstrated tireless efforts on behalf of the world's children as National Ambassador for Unicef USA.
The film also stars two-time Daytime Emmy Award winner Cady McClain, Michael Aronov, Elizabeth Hess, D’yan Forest and C.R. Clark.
The film will be shown at Harkins Sedona Six Theatres on Wednesday, November 12, at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. All veterans will be admitted free. Tickets for the public are $10 or $8 for Film Sedona members, and will be available starting at 3 p.m., in the Harkins lobby. Cash or checks only are accepted and seats are limited. Film Sedona members can purchase tickets in advance at the Sedona International Film Festival office, 1785 W. Hwy. 89A, Suite 2B, or by calling 928-282-1177.
