Lanning Gallery Features All-American Artist Mark Gould
Lanning Gallery Features All-American Artist Mark Gould
Sedona’s Lanning Gallery celebrates the all-American artwork of Mark Gould during July.  The artist is perhaps best known for his gorgeous continuing series, “My Neighbor’s House,” a dazzling exploration of the American dream.

“He was raised in the rural heartland of America,” gallery owner Peggy Lanning notes, “and his paintings capture so brilliantly the vitality of this land.”  Gould has created a body of work that reflects pure freedom and energy; his color palette is as unlimited as nature or his own imagination.

By expertly walking the fence between realism and abstraction Gould is able to capture a reality that is as emotional as it is literal.  His scenes or subjects are always recognizable but often it is the feeling they evoke that also comes to the viewer as a recognition.

The artist recalls drawing incessantly as a child, but without access to art classes until attending college.  Gould’s studies continued at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Denver Art Students League, and the University of New Mexico.  Within a few years of graduation he had gained major representation.  Today, collectors of Gould’s paintings marvel at his colors that create a focal point in any room.

“They draw you in,” Lanning says. “We consistently hear from his collectors that, whether they have acquired a very small piece of Gould’s; a mid to large piece, which is his more usual size; or a very, very large canvas, they feel as though the scenes he creates are ones they wish to find themselves lost in.  It’s quite something and we’re very proud to represent such a marvelous artist and marvelous man.”

Other series of the artist’s include “Land and Sky” and “Modern Still Life” – with each series exploring the limits of Gould’s rich vision.  One-time-only special pricing is offered all July for Gould’s work.
