Prescott Frontier Days and The World's Oldest Rodeo

The thundering hooves, bucking broncs and tough-as-leather cowboys are sure to get your blood pumping during the daily performances of Prescott Frontier Days and The World＊s Oldest Rodeo® presented by Coors, June 30-July 5. The Rodeo and a wide array of other special events take place in the cool pines of beautiful downtown Prescott. The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association nominated Prescott Frontier Days as one of the top outdoor rodeos in the nation in 2004. This year, the World＊s Oldest Rodeo® was selected to be a part of the Wrangler Pro Rodeo Tour. Several new events and increased prize money will make this year＊s rodeo better than ever. The World＊s Oldest Rodeo® has taken a turn towards the high-tech with a large video board and instant replay capability to capture all the heart-stopping action for the fans. The specialty act for this year＊s rodeo is ※The Wild Child§ Troy Lerwill. Rodeo clown, barrelman and bullfighter, Lerwill combines his tremendous skills, humor and experience as a professional motocross racer to elicit gasps and laughs from the crowd. In addition to the thrills of daily, action-packed rodeo competition, a host of special events await visitors each and every day. Kick up your spurs on the evenings of July 3-5, at the Rodeo Dance. Enjoy the horses and floats in the Prescott Frontier Days Parade the morning of July 5. Browse the many arts and crafts for sale on the Courthouse Plaza, July 4-6. The main event is the World＊s Oldest Rodeo®. Dexterity, endurance, strength and balance are put to the test in saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, team roping, team bronc riding, bull riding, as well as events from the Women＊s Professional Rodeo Association. Crazy and courageous, these rodeo riders face their fears and test their skills in a few furious seconds of achievement in the arena. The competition at this Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association sanctioned event is fierce; often the winner is determined by a split-second decision. Prescott Frontier Days and the World＊s Oldest Rodeo® festivities begin Monday, June 30, and continue through Saturday, July 5. Evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Matinees also run at 1:30 p.m., on July 4 and July 5. Come to Prescott to experience this authentic slice of Western Americana.
