The Arizona Women's Festival weekend festivities begin on Friday, March 14 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village on State Route 179. Sedona Mayor Pud Colquitt will give an official welcome at 6:00 p.m.
Many of Tlaquepaque's galleries and stores will be featuring women artists and artisans Friday night and throughout the weekend.
"The Friday night receptions in Tlaquepaque galleries will be the perfect time for festival attendees to relax and mingle with other extraordinary women attending the festival," said Women's Festivals Co-producer, Patty DeDominic. "Everyone is encouraged to enjoy one of Sedona's architectural landmarks and view inspiring art created by women."
Galleries hosting receptions Friday night include Mountain Trails Gallery, El Prado Gallery, Geoffrey Roth Ltd, Andrea Smith Gallery, The Inner Eye Gallery, Kuivato Glass Gallery, Renee Taylor Gallery, Gifted Hands, TC Framing, and Eclectic Image Gallery.
All activities on Friday are free. On Sunday, March 16, the Festival moves back to Tlaquepaque with workshops and free entertainment throughout the day.
A full day of events will take place on Saturday, March 15, at Sedona Red Rock High School, including an Expo, 12 break-out sessions of panelists and speakers, and the ATHENA Awards luncheon.
Registration for Saturday's activities and Sunday's workshops can be done on-line at www.womensfestivals.org.
The Arizona Women's Festival was created to "celebrate the accomplishments of women and inspire others to realize their dreams". Co-produced by DeDominic and Mary Schnack of Sedona, both successful entrepreneurs in their own right, the Women's Festivals were created to provide an interactive, multi-cultural forum focusing on the five key areas of women's lives: Personal, Professional, Philanthropic, Political, and Planet.
