Sedona Film Festival Features The Air I Breathe
Sedona Film Festival Features The Air I Breathe
The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Arizona premiere of Jieho Lee¡¯s ambitious new film, ¡°The Air I Breathe¡± at the January installment of the Second Tuesday Cinema Series. There will be two screenings of the film at 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. on January 8, at Harkins Sedona Six Theatres.

¡°The Air I Breathe¡± boasts a brilliant ensemble cast including Forest Whitaker, Andy Garcia, Kevin Bacon, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Brendan Fraser, Julie Delpy and Emile Hirsch.

The film¡¯s director and co-writer, Jieho Lee, will be here for both screenings. He will be joined by his co-writer Bob DeRosa. Both will introduce the film and lead the Q&A discussions following the screenings.

Four short fables in which characters collide with fate ¨C and each other ¨C comprise ¡°The Air I Breathe,¡± an absorbing drama from debuting director/writer Jieho Lee. Featuring an Oscar-caliber ensemble cast, the film is inspired by a Chinese proverb that breaks life down into four key emotions ¨C Happiness, Sorrow, Pleasure, and Love ¨C and each vignette is built around a character who embodies one of these key emotions. Their stories intersect dramatically and come to the fore in a new motion picture that beckons to the tough, the bold, and the courageous few who dare to love.

In ¡°Happiness,¡± 2006 Best Actor Oscar Winner Forest Whitaker stars as a timid banker who impulsively bets every cent he has, and then some, on a supposedly ¡°sure thing.¡± After he borrows heavily and loses everything, he finds himself at a crossroads between running from his destiny or confronting his fears

In ¡°Sorrow,¡± Sarah Michelle Gellar is a rising pop star whose contract falls under the control of a ruthless crime boss (Oscar-nominee Andy Garcia), and his corrupt nephew (Emile Hirsch).

In ¡°Pleasure,¡± Brendan Fraser stars as a man who can see into the future of everyone he meets, but is totally blind when it comes to his own; and in ¡°Love,¡± Kevin Bacon plays a doctor who pines for a woman he can never possess (Julie Delpy), only to find that he suddenly holds her life in his hands.

Though each of the characters believes that his or her life is governed by hazard and chance, their unbridled emotions, impulsive choices, and reckless moves all prove one universal truth: character is destiny, and each of us makes our own fate.

The title sponsor for the event is Sedona Fit, with owner/trainer Wally Reule. The series is also made possible by a grant from the Arizona Commission on the Arts and National Endowment for the Arts and the City of Sedona. The lodging host sponsor is Amara Resort & Spa.

The film will be shown at Harkins Sedona Six Theatres on Tuesday, January 8, at 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $10, or $8 for Film Sedona members, and will be available at 3:00 p.m. in the Harkins lobby. Cash or checks only. Seats are limited. Film Sedona members can purchase tickets in advance at the Sedona International Film Festival office, 45 Sunset Drive, or by calling 928-282-1177.
