Rock Art of the Colorado Plateau January 23rd: Kelley Hayes-Gilpin presents an overview of the rock paintings and engravings of the Colorado Plateau. She'll talk about why understanding rock art in this region requires comparisons with pottery, textiles and basketry; discuss traditional histories and cosmologies of Native American communities in relation to rock art; and reveal evidence of ancient ritual practices, migrations, pilgrimages and landscapes.
