Lord of the Strings Arvel Bird Performance At Sedona Dream Theater

Just a few weeks after winning the Artist of the Year at the 2007 Ninth Annual Native American Music Awards (Nammys) , ¡°Lord of the Strings¡± Arvel Bird is heading back to his home state of Arizona to delight and inspire his many fans. He¡¯ll be performing at six different venues while he¡¯s in the state, and there¡¯ll be something for everyone. Sedona fans and residents alike will be treated to a performance by Bird, along with his band One Nation, on December 7, at the Sedona Dream Theater, the perfect venue for the event. Fans will also be interested to know that Bird married his beautiful wife Kimberly in Sedona eighteen years ago. It truly is a place close to his heart. Bird has been the leading force behind One Nation since its inception in 2006. From eclectic backgrounds, these four solo recording artists come together to create a world-beat sound that embraces their diverse origins. Paiute/Scottish, Apache/Cherokee, Irish, and Greek, One Nation is a group that is nothing like you have ever seen or heard before! With Arvel¡¯s violin and flutes as the lead instruments, a powerful Native drum as the heartbeat, and electric/acoustic guitars, keyboards, and vocals as the foundation, they are an experience not to be missed. After taking top honors at the Nammys, Arvel is sure to be in fine form. The award was hard-earned and well deserved, and he was ecstatic to get it. ¡°I couldn¡¯t feel more honored to have been voted Artist of the Year by the public AND the Advisory Board,¡± he said. ¡°Last year I fulfilled another dream when I performed at the Nammys and won my first NAMA award, but this trumps even that! I¡¯ve known for a long time that I have the best fans any artist could have, and I am so thankful.¡± Bird performs as a solo artist as well as with the bands One Nation and Ananeah. Raised in Utah and Arizona, he lived in Nashville for fourteen years playing with top country stars such as Loretta Lynn, Ray Price, and Louise Mandrell. He also toured all over the world as a member of Glen Campbell¡¯s band for six years, before setting out to write and perform his own music. Classically trained on the violin for eleven years, Arvel uses his mixed-blood heritage (his mom is Southern Paiute and his dad¡¯s family came from Scotland) to create a unique and universally appealing sound. No matter what style of music you enjoy listening to, from classical, New Age, folk, country, and Celtic, to Native American, bluegrass, fusion, jazz, or blues, you¡¯ll find it all, and more, in Birdl¡¯s work. Arvel Bird is one of the hottest Native American artists on tour today, and is nominated for awards all over the indigenous music world. He won his first Nammy in 2006 in the Best Instrumental category, and currently has eleven CDs of his own music under his belt, plus one DVD. He is signed to Singing Wolf Records in Nashville.
