The final 2007 Bell Rock Plaza Art and Craft Show is scheduled for December 29 and 30. This show has been a long tradition in Sedona and is a very busy weekend with lots of holiday visitors.
Featured artist, Jim Norton from Scottsdale, will be showing his stained glass pieces, the Southwest design inspired by living in the foothills of the mountains for over fifty years. He uses the colors of the sunset and the history of the Native Americans as inspiration for his intricate work. Norton begins with sheets of glass individually handcut and soldered. Piece by piece the design takes on a personality of its own. No two pieces are exactly alike. Norton also does custom work, making pieces in different size and color combinations as well as design a one-of-a-kind piece from your artwork. Custom work is completed three weeks from the order. Norton will have an exstensive collection of southwest and kachina designs available at the show.
Glow Ybarra and her sister Christine Bendele will be showing their intricate jewelry designs. They specialize in pearl designs and crocheted wire and gemstone necklaces. Glow lives in Cottonwood and originally had a hair salon in Santa Barbara, California. After a thirty-year career she decided to study jewelry making and today translates her knowledge of design and balance, color analysis, and defining one's bone structure into the designs of her jewelry. Ybarra chooses to make one of a kind jewelry because she believes in the endless flow of creative energy. She doesn't have time to create all the wonderful ideas in her head. Bendele also creates some of the jewelry pieces, resulting in All Aglow Jewelry, combining the talents of two sisters.
The "after Christmas" show is one of the largest of the year and will include around 60 artists. There will be Paintings, Mixed Media Wall Art, Leather,Jewelry, Wood Furniture, Pottery, Metal Art, Copper Fountains, Rock Art, Clothing, Photography, Native Flutes and Music, Stained Glass Sculpture and more.Travis Terry will also be attending and playing some Native flute music, selling CD's and signing autographs.
