Bell Rock Plaza Thanksgiving Weekend Arts and Crafts Show
The Bell Rock Art and Craft Show will be held at Bell Rock Plaza in the Village of Oakcreek over the Thanksgiving weekend. This has been a traditional show for at least five years now as a kickoff for the Holiday shopping season.
Attending the show will be Philonese, an artist from Black Canyon City, whom many locals have not seen for a long time. Philonese is a self taught artist who works with natural materials from all over the world. Her heritage is French Canadian and Native American, yet in her works she blends the cultures of many indigenous people including Native American, African, Indonesian, and several others. She calls her soft sculptures Nature Spirits.
Philonese started to seriously pursue her career at age 27. Since the early 1970's she has been in numerous galleries around the country. With over forty years of mastery behind her, she is a true pioneer in her field. Her passion remains strong and her work engages her audiences with the mystique of a woven cultural experience. She is now working on large canvases, and is well known for her sculptures which are shown in the Joan Cawley Gallery in Scottsdale.
Dyanne Silver, originally from Santa Fe and Scottsdale, has been spending her summers in Sedona and her winters in Palm Springs. She is a jewelry designer extrordinaire and her customers anxiously await new creations.
Dyanne attends many of the major art shows in the southwest and over the years she has won numerous Best Booth and Best Art awards for her creative jewelry. She works with precious and semi-precious beads and stones and is known for the intricacy of her work and her multi-strand designs. Dyanne's deep respect - and more often excitement - for the way ancient civilizations have influenced artistic adornment in the present began with her mother sharing her interest in ancient cultures and anthropology with her when she was a child. Dyanne creates each piece individually and they are all one of a kind works of art.
This Thanksgiving Show will feature the works of over forty artists including paintinfs, jewelry, copper fountains, leather, wood furniture, clothing, tile panels, mixed media wall art and sculpture, Hopi kachinas, glass, stone and glass sculpture and more.
