Los Abrigados Resort and Spa Presents Spectacular Red Rock Fantasy

Nestled within the world-renowned red rocks of Sedona, the spectacular Red Rock Fantasy is a festival of more than a million lights providing a man-made marvel within the scenic beauty that has drawn visitors for the past one hundred years. Now in its seventeenth year and boasting thirty contestant sites created by families from the Southwest, the festival promises never-before-seen marvels of light that leave children in wonderment and move adult minds to enjoy the holidays as they did when they were young. It is a magic that can bring cartoon favorites to life, challenge children to scavenger hunts within the displays, or illuminate a 25' swan in dazzling, blue moonlight (a 2003 winner). That is the magic that has made Red Rock Fantasy a favorite among Arizonans and visitors to the state alike. Visitors are not, however, the only ones who are touched by Red Rock Fantasy. The event benefits its hometown, local charities, and dozens of families each year. Proceeds from the event have been earmarked for charity since its inception, providing tens of thousands of dollars to organizations such as this year's recipient - The Institute of EcoTourism. And, each year, Los Abrigados hosts approximately 100 children from the Phoenix Boys & Girls Club for a fun overnight that includes a visit from Santa. To ensure that the event gets better and better each year, the Red Rock Fantasy displays are built by families competing for a vacation ownership at Los Abrigados and other ILX Properties. The "People's Choice" award is given based on ballots that event visitors fill out. The competition guarantees that each year, Red Rock Fantasy has dozens of never-before-seen displays to dazzle our guests. The "Lights On Ceremony" for the 17th Annual Red Rock Fantasy will take place this year at 5:15 p.m. on November 15, 2007 and the event will last through the New Year, ending with "Lights Out" on January 1, 2008. The festival is open every evening, weather permitting, Sunday through Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Red Rock Festival 2007 DATES: Opening Ceremony takes place Thursday, November 15, 2007 at 4:45 pm. Closing Ceremony is Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at 10:00 pm. and the Awards Banquet announcing the winners in every category is Saturday, January 5, 2008 beginning at 6:30 pm. CONTESTANTS: There are 30 contestant sites at Los Abrigados Resort & Spa displaying an estimated 1 million lights. Although not eligible for voting this year, the Stonehouse is decorated by last year’s Grand Prize Winners. BENEFICIARY: Institute of EcoTourism TIMES: Every evening, weather permitting, Sunday through Thursday from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Friday & Saturday from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm. ADMISSION: Adults - $7, Seniors - $6, Children 4 – 12 yrs. - $5, and Children under 4 yrs. – Complimentary. Blocks of twenty tickets or more will be sold at a discounted rate of $5 each. BALLOTS: All those touring the lights will be given a ballot containing a route map, which will allow them to choose five favorite displays. The completed ballots may be dropped in the ballot box located in the lobby of the restaurants. The winning display will be awarded a lifetime vacation ownership through ILX Premiere Vacation Club with prizes also going to runners up in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place categories. ROUTE: The route is clearly marked with reflective strips and begins outside the resort lobby under the lighted Red Rock Fantasy arch. It takes approximately 60 minutes to complete the tour by foot. PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED GUESTS: Physically challenged guests requiring assistance to tour the displays may inquire about assistance at the ticket area, a staff member will be happy to help. The route stays on paved areas of the resort, offering all guests the opportunity to see each display.
