Jerome Historic State Park Presents Geology Walking Field Trip for Kids
Jerome State Historic Park will be conducting a free ‘Geology Walking Field Trip for Kids.’ This is for kid’s ages 8 to 12. You must pre-register by November 14. No drop-ins accepted. Trips are limited to 10, so register soon!
The field trip will introduce kids to basic geology principles starting with the three major rock types, igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic. They will be identifying rocks and collecting samples. Linda Heidenreich, local teacher will be leading the tours. She has been leading geology field trips for kids for four summers.
Kids will need to be dropped off at Jerome State Park for this first session by 8:00 a.m. and picked up at Noon. These are walking tours. Make sure your child has good walking shoes and is dressed appropriately for the weather, including a hat.
Tours are also scheduled for February and March, dates to be announced. Each program will focus on different aspects of the geology of the area.
